On Monday, Anne Hathaway was interviewed (click here) regarding her new hair 'do for her role in Les Miserables, and when asked about how she felt about undergoing certain aesthetic changes she responded with:
"I've always respected a certain type of actor who really commits to all aspects of her role, but it was...a hard thing to do," she said. "Not so much the weight loss...I'm a girl. Let's face it we think about losing weight all the time."
That last sentence just churns my insides. Saying comments like that only creates a bigger conflict to the already PRESENT issues our society is trying to address. Body image issues are so prominent in this day and age that all Anne did with that comment was contribute to the problem.
