Girls who say they can only have male friends

Ok this article might be a little frivolous (maybe absolutely frivolous) but I feel its something that happens within our age group a lot and that nobody thinks critically about.
The editorial basically talks about that one girl you know who says they only have male friends because women are too "bitchy," "catty," "jealous," etc. to be friends with so they opt for being friends with only guys because they are none of the above.

The writer says these women who write off women as friends can be compared to as racists. She also believes that these women are being "silly" for not wanting to be friends with other women, especially when they share the same experiences and can relate to one another.

"So, ladies who think men are the antidote to ~dRaMa~ fueled vagina holders — the attitude that all women are evil, conniving, and not worth your time is just, statistically, silly. You can’t get along with roughly 50% of the population? That sounds like a You problem. Especially when that 50% of the population has myriad things in common with you like, I don’t know… periods; career challenges; family woes..."

Personally I always found it problematic for women to say they can't be friends with other women because of these stereotypical traits women are supposed to posses. I feel like these women are knocking down their own gender by submitting to these stereotypes and generalizing them in women. Not all women are the same and not all men are the same. You can find the same unflattering qualities in men as you can find them in women.

Its ok to be a woman with few women friends and more male friends. But its not ok to say that your not friends with woman because of a generalization and stereotype.
