Popping the Question

Relationships have changed over the years. Men and women are seen on a more even playing field. The guy doesn't always have to make the first move or be the first one to call anymore, women are upping their game. While women seem to have more - for lack of a better word - power in the outcome of a date, an article posted on Huffington Post's site states that women and men alike still think men should be the one to propose marriage.

Out of 277 heterosexual students in California none - not even one - said they "definitely" wanted the woman in the relationship to propose.

This immediately made me think of the show Friends when Monica begins proposing to Chandler, but ultimately he drops down on his knee too and asks her to marry him.

What do you think about this? Is our society still stuck back in the day or should we just not mess with tradition?
