More Girls

Newly crowned the 100th most important female something or other in Hollywood, Lena Dunham is back with a second season of her critically acclaimed and controversial HBO series, "Girls." Over at HuffPo, they were so excited they wrote a whole blog entry just to show off the shiny new trailer. But really, the show is excellent and if you haven't seen the first season, rent it and watch it now so you'll be all caught up by the time season 2 drops. That way, you'll be prepared to discuss all the crazy sh*t that went down on this week's episode when you and your coworkers are gathered around the water cooler. Or whatever the feminine equivalent of the water cooler is. Maybe the tampon dispenser in the bathroom?
Anyways, I caught up on Girls in a single weekend in a marathon TV session where my cries of, "Ummm... can we watch one more?" lead my girlfriend to play me this Portlandia clip about Battlestar.
Rude, I know, but she had a point. It's addictive. And not only that but I think Girls is part of the new Golden Age of quality television that asks viewers to not just discuss *what* happened, but *why* it happened as well as the deeper issues of creative aspiration, body issues, modern feminism, privilege, and more of those fancy college buzzwords that we're all fluent in now thanks to this class.
