One complaint that was uttered after the first presidential debate was the lack of a focus by the candidates on social issues such as women's rights and women's reproductive health. The university's Center for Women and Gender Studies is working to offer a solution to the complaint by hosting a "Pizza Party Politics" series which "examine this political cycle's issues through a lens of gender identity while placing them in historical context." The second part of the series took place on Monday and featured UT researchers discussing racism in Texas during the early suffrage movement.
What are your thoughts on this series? How does a series like this compare with the alternative spheres we discussed in class?
